Introduction

William Penn University's began playing volleyball in 1973 and has had several seasons of success, including a few very strong campaigns since moving to the NAIA and the Midwest Classic Conference in 2001.

The 2007 campaign was one of the best in school history as Penn, who finished 22-16 overall, claimed the MCC title at 7-1.  The squad also advanced to the Region VII Tournament semifinals for the first time in program history.

Junior Sheila Mercado paced a trio of first-team all-conference performers, including senior Cohri Haas and freshman Emily Stanton.  Rachel Madany was also an honorable mention.

Mercado was selected as the MCC Player of the Year as well, while Stanton claimed Newcomer of the Year status.  Mercado then went on to earn first-team all-Region VII honors.  Head Coach Cyndy Gray was tabbed as the 2007 MCC and Region VII Coach of the Year.

Haas departs the collegiate ranks as the all-time leader at Penn in kills (1,520), attacks (4,549), and digs (2,025).  Mercado also put her name in the record books this fall as she is now the all-time leader in career assists (4,180) and aces (tied at 146).
