Brian Spielbauer enters his fifth season as head women's basketball coach this winter.

He began his coaching career at Penn, serving as an assistant men's basketball coach for one year.

Spielbauer played three years for the men's basketball program and graduated from Penn in 1996 with a physical education major and minors in health and biology. After graduation, he taught and coached at the high school level for two years at DeWitt and Corydon. At Corydon, Spielbauer was head boy's basketball coach and assistant coach for football and baseball.

He then attended graduate school at Bemidji State in Bemidji, Minn., where he earned his M.S. in Sports Studies in 2002. While at BSU, Spielbauer served as a graduate assistant for the men's basketball program for two seasons.

Spielbauer also teaches part-time in the health and life sciences department. Originally from Guttenberg, Spielbauer currently resides in Oskaloosa with his wife, Jennifer, and their two daughters, Sydney and Allie.

Sue Spielbauer enters her second season as assistant women's basketball coach at William Penn.

A graduate of the University in 1998 with majors in math education and physical education, Spielbauer was an outstanding player in both basketball and softball. A Hall of Fame inductee in 2001, she led the nation in three-point percentage in 1996 and was an all-Iowa Conference performer as well. Spielbauer also excelled on the diamond, earning all-conference and All-American honors as a pitcher.

A native of Guttenberg, Spielbauer also taught at the high school level at Knoxville and Monticello and has coached sports at several different levels.

She furthered her education by earning her master's in education from Northern Illinois in 2005, majoring in physical education with an emphasis in sports psychology.





Jarrett Edgeman
Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

Jarrett Edgeman enters his first season as assistant women's basketball coach at William Penn.

Edgeman returns to Penn after playing for the Statesmen basketball team in 2000-2001 and part of 2001-2002.  He is currently taking classes at the university, majoring in business management.

A native of Conway, Mo., Edgeman resides in Oskaloosa with his wife Nicole and their daughter Kaydance.





Levi Tarbell

Levi Tarbell is in his second stint as assistant women's basketball coach, also assisting during the 2005-2006 season.

The Moravia native, who graduated from Penn in 2005, played three years for the Statesmen varsity program, averaging 3.5 points and 2.6 rebounds.  He started 36 of the 82 games in which he played.

Tarbell currently works as an admissions counselor at the university.
