Introduction

Iowa is known for producing the greatest collegiate wrestlers in the nation.  William Penn University is a part of that tradition of excellence, ranking among the NAIA's best.  Under head coach Gary Garvis, the Statesmen have become one of the fastest-growing wrestling programs in the state and the success has gained Penn national recognition.

The team won a record 54 duals in a row from 2001-2005
and finished the 2007-2008 year with a 3-2 mark.

Thirteen Statesmen qualified for the NAIA National Tournament with three earning All-American status, while the team finished 15th with 47 points.  Junior 285-pounder Jordan Wall claimed the bronze, while senior brothers Shamar (125) and Edgar (141) Haynes both finished seventh.
